Kids Growing Up Strong

As a parent and a sexologist, I believe that educating our children in a positive manner helps them to develop a healthy self esteem and self concept.

Relationships teach us about love, connection, and community. How we do relationships is at the core of who we are as human beings.

Over the last two decades, “abstinence only” or “abstinence-based” sex education moved to the forefront of sex ed in our country. I believe this type of sex ed is a disservice to our kids. Research bears me out.

Your child deserves the most effective sex ed:

age-appropriate comprehensive sex education at

Mountain Sexology.

(footnote)

“Abstinence only sex education” = the only option for people who are not married, contraception fails, and sex is harmful outside the context of marriage

“Abstinence-based sex education” = abstinence until marriage as the only responsible behavior;  kids hear contraception discussed, but failure rates are emphasized

Girls Growing Up Strong

VITAL After-School Program For 4th, 5th, & 6th Grade Girls

As a parent myself, I know that talking to my child about sex can create anxiety. Answering our child’s questions about this difficult topic can determine how they approach relationships later in life.

Those difficult questions start at this pre-teen age. This class begins to answer those questions.

Your daughter will learn information that’s vital to relationships, health, and well-being.

This class takes a broad look at growing up, relationships, family structure, self-esteem, good decision-making skills, and the importance of self-love. It will reinforce what students learn in sex ed in public school but is more comprehensive. The class will emphasize universal values like respect for self and others, honesty, trust, and fairness. Girls will explore and define their individual values as well as the values of their family and community.

Your child will

  • Receive the message that sexuality is a natural, normal, healthy part of life.
  • Learn how to find health information.
  • Identify red flags in a relationship – not just in romance, but also with friends.
  • Explore big questions about sexuality, love and relationships, and learn to discuss them with family.
  • Do community service to change her life and that of a girl inAfrica!

An educated child is an empowered child.

  • Explore how to answer questions about sexuality and relationships
  • Look at the benefits of comprehensive sex education
  • Learn how to deliver a positive, healthy message when answering questions about sexuality
